Best Mother’s Day Gift Ideas for Your Homesteading Mom

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to create a post all about gift ideas for the mom in your life.

Am I writing this in hopes Andrew might read it and get me exactly what I want for Mother’s Day? Maybe.

I’ve been trying to decide how I want this list to go, and finally I decided to gear it towards moms like me, moms who love homesteading. Now, when I say homesteading moms, I mean mamas who have a homesteading heart. Moms who desire the slow simple life for them and their family. Moms who have a homebody spirit and find serenity in their homes. For me personally, I am far from that picturesque homesteading mom, but I still desire the lifestyle with all my heart.

I was having a hard time deciding what to put on this list. As I was walking around my house, I noticed the things I have gotten as gifts that I love, so I thought I would start there. Let me show you what I have and what I would add to it. Hopefully this inspires you as you are thinking about what to get for the mom in your life.

I will include links to some products just for your convenience. We are not part of any affiliate marketing at this time. If that changes in the future, we’ll be sure to let you know.

The Statement Piece

Donkey cactus planter on a table

This cute donkey pot from Hobby Lobby, wasn’t a gift, but I couldn’t pass him up. I had just scored the table underneath him for ten dollars at Goodwill! He is the perfect addition to our living room. For this gift idea, I would add a set of coasters to complete the table.

When decorating, less is more, in my opinion. I try to go by the group of three decorating rule, which is what is sounds like, adding three things together in one area. Sometimes though, if you have a small table, even a group of three items is too much. Also, It’s much easier to dust when you have less clutter.

When gift giving, or even buying for yourself, go for one bigger item and work down from there.

Baskets

You can never go wrong with baskets. Like ever. They will always be a go to gift for me. Andrew got me this white one for Christmas and I love it. It matches my decor perfectly. You can always go a step further to amp up your gift and fill the basket with extra goodies. Blankets, pillows, candy, books, etc.

Meaningful Figurines

These Willow Tree figurines will always be a special gift to receive. I love the simplicity and meaningfulness of each figurine. I have had these three for years. As you can see the poor couple on the left has been broken and mended. Nothing is safe once the kids arrive. Pro tip, always keep superglue. I really need a few more of these. The kids are a little older now, so maybe they will survive.

To Fill Her Cup

There is no better gift, then one that will strengthen her walk with the Lord. Bible pens and highlighters are a great gift for moms’ who spend a lot of time studying the bible. Notebooks, bible dictionaries, bible references are also great ideas to help fill moms cup in her daily walk with God.

These highlighters from Mardell’s are great, they don’t bleed through the pages. I have also gifted these magnetic book marks to lady’s at church. They make a great secret sister gift. Anything to personalize her daily bible study time would be a great gift.

Don’t Forget the Coffee

Us moms need caffeine, and a lot of it! Do not let the day end without treating your mom to her favorite coffee. Whether you go pick it up at her favorite coffee shop, make it at home, or get her a gift card to use for later.

Speaking of coffee, coffee scented wax melts or candles are a great gift that keep on giving long after Mother’s Day. She can fill her house with her favorite scent while reminding her of the one she received it from.

This vintage style radio wax warmer is quite the statement piece in my kitchen.

Home Made Gifts

Crochet pumpkins on a shelf

Last but definitely not least, home made gifts. Especially coming from children, home made gifts are so special to receive. My daughter crocheted these pumpkins for me back in the Fall. I am so proud of her handiwork, I will continue to display them regardless of the season.

In my opinion, it doesn’t matter what it is, if they take the time to make it or collect it for you it’s special. I read something that said, if a child gives you a rock, take it proudly because it’s the only thing they had to give you and they wanted you to have it.

I have lots of rocks in my house! While going on walks, the kids love finding me flowers and unique rocks to add to our collection.

You’ll notice that I didn’t add anything big or extravagant to this list. Showing someone how much you love them shouldn’t have a price tag and the most memorable gestures are almost always free. Would I turn down a fancy kitchen aid mixer or expensive jewelry? Absolutely not, but if the budget doesn’t allow for expensive gifts I certainly don’t want someone going into debt to buy me things they think will make me happy.

As a homebody homesteading mom, my perfect Mother’s Day would be small gifts from my little people and my favorite iced coffee, and of course, not having to feed people or clean up for the whole day!

If you don’t have homebody mom, take her out to eat and then to her favorite store to just shop at her pace.

I think we can all agree that what all mom’s want and need is to know we’re loved, appreciated, and have the burden of life lifted from us for at least one day.

I hope this post gave you at least a few Mother’s Day gift ideas.
